Gridiron Career: Build Your Football Player and Win It All

Create a rookie, sign with a pro football team, make the right call on every big down and chase a championship ring over a 5-season career.

How to Play Gridiron Career

  1. Create your player. Choose a name, a jersey number and one of eight positions: QB, RB, WR, TE, DE, LB, CB or S. Every position has its own attributes and stats.
  2. Sign with your first team. Three mid-tier or rebuilding NFL franchises make you an offer. Each shows its city, logo and overall rating (OVR).
  3. Make the call. Each game has four key moments, one per quarter, and the last one is always the final two minutes. You get three play options: two smart calls and one mistake.
  4. Win and develop. Good calls that you execute raise your attributes. Better attributes give you a higher chance to execute against tough opponents.
  5. Reach the playoffs. Win 4 of 5 regular season games, or 3 with a positive point differential. The playoffs are single elimination, all the way to the Super Bowl.
  6. Build your legacy. After each season, sign with a better team or stay loyal. After 5 seasons, fill your trophy room, share your career card on X and climb the rankings for your position.

Positions and Attributes

Every play you choose is tied to one or two attributes. Your rating in those attributes, compared to the opponent's rating, sets your chance to execute the play.

Football Strategy: How to Make the Right Call

  • 3rd & long: Throw past the first-down marker. A run or a short route rarely moves the chains.
  • 3rd & short or 4th & 1: Use quick, downhill plays like a QB sneak, a power run or a quick slant. Slow plays invite sacks and losses.
  • Red zone: The field is compressed. Use timing throws and inside leverage. A deep post has no room to work.
  • Blitz coming: Get the ball out to the hot route, and running backs must pick up the extra rusher.
  • Two-minute drill: With no timeouts, work the sideline and get out of bounds to stop the clock.
  • Protecting a lead: Stay in bounds and avoid incompletions so the clock keeps running.
  • On defense: Rush the passer on 3rd & long, fill your gap in short yardage, don't bite on play-action and never give up the deep ball late in the game.

Playoffs and the Super Bowl

The playoff field runs through the Wild Card Round, the Divisional Round and your conference championship (AFC or NFC). The winner goes to the Super Bowl. A perfect regular season earns the #1 seed and a first-round bye. Win the title with a great game and you could also be named Super Bowl MVP.
